CASTRO
ADMINISTRATIVE MANAGER
Russell serves as the administrative coordinator and assistant to the director where he manages all administrative and scheduling matters for the director and senior departmental management, oversees departmental special events, supports the operations team, coordinates staff and student travel, and provides administrative support to the UCLA Basic Needs Committee and Student Risk Education Committee.
Hailing from America’s Finest City, San Diego, Calif., Russell completed his Associate of Arts degree in Social Behavioral Studies from San Diego Mesa College in 2013 and his Bachelor of Arts degree in History from UCLA in 2015. While at Mesa College, Russell served as outreach ambassador for the Mesa College Office of Outreach & Community Relations. Upon arriving at UCLA, Russell became involved in several different student organizations and held numerous roles, including: CPO office intern; CPO assistant office manager; academics coordinator for Pilipino Transfer Student Partnership (PTSP); Retention Coordinator for Samahang Pilipino; Vice Chairperson of the Campus Retention Committee (CRC); Acting Chairperson of the Campus Retention Committee; and member of UCLA’s Food Security Work Group.
Russell aims to continue building a career in higher education, but also hopes to serve in non-profit leadership or in an administrative role for an elected official. Russell enjoys playing basketball, spending quality time with family, listening to inspiring speeches, and coffee with doughnuts.
